Necropolis is cool, next to cathedral. Argyle Street area for food/drink

There is a nice whisky bar called The Ben Nevis on Argyle, and if you are lucky you will get an impromptu folk music jam session like I saw. The Pot Still is another great whisky bar.

The Peoples' Palace Museum is pretty cool, showcasing Glasgow's history. All museums in Glasgow are free, which makes it a great cheap sightseeing opportunity.

I was there this spring and didn't visit the Barras, a wacky flea market by the Tennent brewery, as I had heard it was a shell of its former self (I was there in 1998 as well and it was amazing).

Buy a ticket to the red hop on / hop off bus that runs through town, it will take you all the relevant places cheaply and easily and comes with sightseeing narration to boot. If the rain holds up I found it a very easy place to walk and explore -- lots of great sights from what used to be a very grimy and run down city but which is trying to escape that past. But maybe avoid going much further east than the Necropolis, for safety reasons.....
