US Virgin Islands post-Irma

We're seriously considering a trip in June, but it's hard to get a clear picture of what it's like there. I can read between the lines to tell it's going to be a long recovery, but it also looks like a visit could still be very good--beach time, snorkeling, rum, local food.

Can someone here offer an informed opinion? We'll stay at a hotel (St. Thomas) and VRBO, staying on St. John mostly. It seems that some smaller hotels are open and okay and many rentals are intact.

Any other thoughts on what to do and see is appreciated. We will visit the national park and spend some time on St. Thomas when we get there.
