Started following the Birds at age 7 during the 1966 World Series. Frank was The Man.
Lots of great memories and a couple tough ones:
- At age 8, I listened to many games on the radio, and recall his collision with Al Weis at second base in the summer of 1968. He had double vision and took a long time to recover.
- I was very upset when the Orioles traded him to the Dodgers for Doyle Alexander before the 1972 season. The Birds were 3-time defending AL champs, and sent their best player packing.
A fine man who broke big barriers with Grace and always competed to the last strike. [Post edited by Wahoo Josh at 02/07/2019 4:51PM]
