Glad I watched it, probably biggest upset (WF was #1)
in UVA tennis history. Other than 3 of our 4 tennis Natty's and maybe some NTI wins, it had to the best college tennis match I ever saw and certainly it was most unexpected.
When I saw that Gojo ( BTW I heard a WF player pronounce it Go Joe) was playing I thought we had no chance. Then when we lost doubles I really thought we had no chance, but I guess you never know in sports.
I was very impressed with BN's game. Just so solid and he is very fast and good at everything. He plays a lot like TSK ( BTW he was there watching). I thought that CS was much improved from last year and he had to be to beat Gojo. Goetz dominated at 5. and we won all of the close matches, except HW's, which means the young guys are really improving. This makes me optimistic for the rest of the year. Heck we may even make some noise at the NTI next weekend.
I liked the lineup change with HW and his experience playing #2. He really gave Chrysochos, (NCAA singles champ) a very tough match. As always he relied on his consistency and just hung in there on point after point.
I was watching AL when he clinched the match and everyone went nuts He had chance to win it on a deciding point in the previous game, but double faulted, so I was really happy for him to clinch it. I think CS won his match at almost the same time.
There was a very good crowd and the Band even made an appearance.
