Disagree!

The thing that sticks out like a sore thumb for me is the Staff's failure to make ANY adjustment at all to what was happening.

NOTHING will destroy the confidence or morale of a athletically talented team (or a combat unit, for that matter) quicker than a staff that does NOTHING while the players are getting their collective butts handed to them. The players have a duty to their coaches to "do their jobs" but the coaches have a concomitant duty to their players to do theirs as well.
The message that coaching inaction in the face of failure ALWAYS sends to a struggling team is that "Your situation is hopeless and you are on your own " because there is no strategic or tactical change, or adjustment or substitution that we, your coaches, can provide you with, that will give you a better chance to succeed than what we have already so generously provided to you. The clear message is that your situation is hopeless and it is all your fault.

How about they try someone else covering Spencer, or try a zone, or switch goalies, or call a time out, or "hey guys, let's work to get Dox more than 2 shots in the final 42 minutes?" Try something else, anything! That will at least send the message to the players that the staff is willing to accept some responsibility for the situation as in: "maybe WE should have done XXXX."

I speak with a few of the players from the 2011 team from time to time and am amazed that, as as the years go, by how much larger and larger the coaching decision to implement the "zone" looms in their collective memories as the decisive factor in turning that season around.

As Yogi might well have said: " Lacrosse is half physical and the other 90% is mental."
