Death of Rock Bands. When did this happen?

Seems everyone these days is a solo act. Is it just tougher to "pimp" a band these days? Just curious as to why there are no longer bands...and everything in rap, pop, rock, country is all about solo artists? Or are the rock bands just not getting cover anymore?

The last great "new" rock band had to be something from the 1990s. Again..it may be just me, or maybe for every new band, there are 50 solo acts...and thus the chances are just greater for solo acts.
