One looong weekend.

It certainly wasn't pretty. Not knowing what to expect going in I thought one or two wins was possible and in hindsight the Bethune-Cookman, FAU and St John's games were all very winnable games. The B-C game hurt the most as that was a case of pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Pitching wise, no doubt Frei struggled. Hopefully, it's a case of new school, new role (she was P#2 at BC) jitters and she'll find her previous form before ACC play begins. Osherow pitched great against B-C, FAU and St. John's and hopefully can continue pitching this well going forward.

The first years: Zeurich pitched great against UGA in what would have been three scoreless innings if not for an error but she struggled with control all weekend as the BB/HB stats would indicate. They put Rayle into tough situations, debut came against IU with bases loaded and a dribbled infield single, two pitching wedge singles to lf and even a bunt rbi single created a horrible stat sheet but not enough of a sample size to draw any solid conclusions. Only GA got really solid contact off of her and fortunately they don't play in the ACC.

Defense/hitting: I'd have to say the biggest bright spot is the SS play and hitting of first year Arizona Ritchie. She had a couple of first year, first day jitters errors but really found her stride after that. I've heard this has been a problem position in recent years so hopefully she's the answer. Another first year Friedman played solidly at C and hit well. Overall we hit well at times but struggled with situational hitting, way to many 1 out or less base runners stranded against B-C.

I won't be able to see next weeks game but it looks like more winnable games. I knew GA would be tough but Indiana looks like they'll be a lot better than advertised so hopefully that experience of playing those teams works to our advantage next week.

In general a college sports dad's place in-season should be off the internet so I will probably only be checking in occasionally from this point on. Hope everyone has a great spring!
