Tampa’s style (blitz the other team and score fast) doesn’t have a great

history in the playoffs. Caps beat them last year the same way Columbus did this year: by playing a defense-first, forecheck game and making them grind. They get uncomfortable and all that firepower is neutralized a bit. Think of it like a Tony Bennett team playing UNC, Auburn, or other quick-strike, transition-based offenses but in a much more physical game where scoring is a LOT more difficult.

Like the NCAAT, hockey teams tend to ratchet up their defenses in the playoffs and teams aren’t going to roll over and die because they’re down 3-0 like they maybe did in the regular season.
