I have, but I don't think it's the experience you want

I was living in London at the time and went over during the tournament for an evening. There are a couple of things to remember that you might already know. One is that it's light enough to play over there until almost 10:00, so there's a lot of time in the evening. The other is that there are a lot of courts on the grounds that aren't in stadia. Those other courts host matches, too. They generally have low-ranked players you have never heard of, but sometimes you might see a big name who is on his or her way down.

Wimbledon offers a ticket that I think is called a Grounds Pass (or something very similar). It allows a holder to get into the grounds and wander around, watching tennis on those non-stadium courts or sitting on the hill watching the big screen for a big match. You can eat your strawberries and cream, drink your Pims cup, and have a Wimbledon experience. It won't be the matches you see on TV, though. The Grounds Pass has an interesting setup - I don't think you can buy them in advance. They are cheap (I did this more than a decade ago and I paid somewhere between 11 and 14 GBP for the pass), but you have to wait in line for them. A long line. When I did it, I arrived about 4:00 on a weekday, and the line was about a mile long. It moved pretty fast, and I was into the grounds in about an hour and a half.

Like I said, it's a good way to be able to say "I've been to Wimbledon," but it's probably not the experience you want if Wimbledon is important enough to you to make it a destination. If you're going to London anyway to see other stuff and want to go to the tournament while you're there, it might be a good option for you.
