At the end of the show, he was

sentenced to return to the night’s watchhe asked “there’s still a night’s watch?” Tyrion replied that there will always be a need of a place for broken things, or something along those lines. That’s why he was back in his black cloak at the end. He was back in the watch again.

There is a debate about the end of the show, if Jon looking back at the wall while going north with the wildlings (while still in his watch cloak) meant he was abandoning the watch, never to return.
