At least one Sotheby's auction had an Allard K2 lefthand drive chassis


underpinning the K1 1950s body panels. Maybe other US buyers did similar in the 60s? Allard and other open racing cars became popular in US in post-WW era due to soldiers returning from Europe - some great stories of smuggled European roadsters showing up back home on Army and other logistics ships.
