I would temper expectations on Briggs.


I think he will be in the DL rotation, and possibly even get some starts. But asking him to be a dominant player in Year 1 just isn't the reality. It took Andrew Brown 3 years to learn how to play DL at a P5 level, and Brown was a more purely talented recruit than Briggs.

Also, there are some really good players in front of him. Hanback, Burney, Alonso, Faumui, Redmond show lots of proven depth here.

Briggs will be a very good player. But I don't think he will jump off the screen as a first-year.
