History folks: I'm just finishing up "No Ordinary Time", Doris Goodwin's

book on FDR and Eleanor on the homefront during WWII. Really a book rich in history, covering the years just prior to us entering the war, through the death of FDR (maybe a little further, as I'm not quite there yet). Very detailed, but really gets into the richness of the moment (politics, race, labor, business, personal "stuff") on the homefront:

FDR's unprecedented run for a 3rd presidency
The politicking necessary to convert our industrial based to a war machine
A lot of labor issues during this time
various gains in civil rights, much in the North at this time (and not without a whole lot of pushback), within business hiring practices, within government contractors, the Army and the Navy
Eleanor's role as a first lady, which was pretty incredible in terms of the work she put in
Their not so hot and steamy relationship
The churchill and stalin relationships and dealings

I've read a number of WWII books, mostly on the war itself....but this was equally interesting during such a pivotal time in our nations history. A bit of a tough read given the volume of information and level of detail....but worth it.
