DKG is cool, but do as you like. Historians writing now use assistants for


lots of work.

How things are noted, footnoted, shown in quotes, etc., is beyond me (accountant).

I know Stephen Ambrose had issues. I don't think they are the only ones.

I think it is like music, pretty much all is based on something before it.

Do as you see fit, but if you skip DKG or Ambrose, you short change yourself.

Personally, I am more concerned when a writer like Max Hastings says that much of Barbara Tuchman's Guns of August has been discredited, to worry about someone not using quotes or incomplete footnotes.
