UVA rushed more than 3 on 18 of 25 defensive snaps in the 1H. For your

statement to be true, UVA would have had to rush no more than 3 on the next 155 snaps, while there were only 28 FSU offensive snaps in the 2H, If they rushed 3 every play in the 2H, they still would only have gotten up to 66%, nowhere close to your "90%".

In the 1H, UVA rushed 3 on only 28% of FSU's offensive plays.

There was a significant shift in defensive strategy late. In the 1H, even when UVA lined up with 3 DL, the LBs were relatively close to the LOS, and often either faking a blitz or actually blitzing. In the late game, it was clear (as it was in the failed 2H in the Sugar Bowl, etc.) that only 3 were rushing the QB and he could usually sit back in the pocket, get comfortable and pick out receivers.
