Not exactly true

In the 60s and 70s people ( adults) went for the tailgate, and students went to party on the hill. It didn't matter that we were not winning. ( we lost to Wake by a score of 64 to something my first year of college, and I think VMI took us down to the wire.) With the open ticket policy then, half the "adults" would stay in the parking lot until half time, and the other half would leave at half time to tailgate.
I am a huge fan, since 1963 and the NCAA MBB Championship was truly the last major (positive) event I hoped to see before I move on, but in some ways I miss those relaxed golden Saturdays where you could sometimes see us beat Carolina or tech, sometimes not, and no one cared about the outcome as much as seeing friends who came to the Tech game ( gasp) or where we were eating that evening.
