For tourney at least, it may be more: how good is starting 5 + 1 or 2 more?

While there were 2 OT games this year to throw off the minutes per game a bit, here's the overall MPG numbers from the tournament:

Kyle: 40.2
Ty: 39.3
Dre: 37.0
Kihei: 33.2
Mamadi: 32.2

Braxton: 13.3
Jack: 9.5
Jay: 3.6

While low numbers overall for rotation players 6 and 7, it's pretty easy to say that Purdue win doesn't happen without Jack and Texas Tech win doesn't happen without Braxton. So contributions of 1 or 2 off the bench certainly are very important in spots / individual games, even if not continuous game to game.

So, when it really counts, at the end of the year when first year players are no longer really first years, the big question to me is: how good can the best starting 5 plus 1 or 2 spot players be?
