I have used cloning software packages for a couple of decades. Several have
come and gone. I have been using Acronis Tru-Image for a while now. It does a good job. I have used the package to replace a hdd with a SSD. I would stay away from Norton Ghost -- for that matter - I would stay away from Norton anything. SSD prices have been coming down. Have you considered 2 drives -- 1 for your operating system and one for your data. Don't need the SSD for your data. Operating systems have been getting pretty big - if the price point is not that much more for you - I would go with the larger one. However, a 500gb drive with a different drive for data should be good for your OS needs.
You should also consider getting a couple of extra hard drives and backing up the SSD once you get it set. If you get a virus or a crash -- you can reload your OS without going through all the hassles and time of rebuilding a new pc. Installing a new pc, configuring it for peripherals like printers, installing new software and adding keys, updating os software may not be a huge technical task, however, it does take a lot of time and attention to detail. A cloned back up drive saves a lot of time. Back up you data at more frequent intervals than backing up your OS. Or, if you trust the cloud, store a back up there.
