Zion's entertaining to watch, has a lot of charisma. His ability -

to beat everyone off of the floor on his second leap is amazing.

He has a combination of talent and a laser-guided focus on getting to the rim, no matter the obstacles.

I love me some HuffDragon, but if you transplanted Zion's relentless mentality into my 7-footer, he'd score 25 ppg (minimum).

Zion's efficiency as a freshman in the NCAA was stoopid 40.8 PER or Barttorvik's PRPG! of 6.9

For reference, Hunter/Ty/Kyle last season were 20.4-24.3 PER and 5.3-5.5 PRPG! and this season Mamadi/Jay/Kihei are 14.3-23.2 PER and 2.4-2.9 PRPG!.

What's so good is Zion's ability to get to the rim for dunks and other high percentage shots. What makes him must-see-TV is his flamboyance and infectious nature in combining athletics and entertainment.

Zion hits a very high percentage of his 2s but not higher than Nawlins' three centers. What he does that's special is getting those high percentage shots at a much higher rate than the others.

Zion has been and I think will continue to be just an average jump shooter. His less-than -stellar 64% FT rate both in college and the pro's (they didn't move the line ;-) is probably reflective of his really long arms - which are probably not helpful in maintaining perfect form on his shot (just looks like a lot of moving parts with the ball being brought back to the top of his head - the antithesis of Kody's low release (which has its own issues) - Zion's shooting looks like Big John Daly taking his driver unusually far back.

Zion shot 33.8% on 3s in NCAA and improved to 36.4% in the NBA, but he takes a very low rate (1 per game) which is wise at that pedestrian clip. I don't expect him to raise that figure much.

Zion's offensive rebounding rate is special, as would be expected for a guy with great instincts-quick leaping-relentlessness. His blocks and assists:turnovers are average, thought he'll make the swat land in the third row for SportsCenter (Bill Russell cringes).

Unfortunately, Zion is likely to have a Ralph Sampson-ish career - tremendous early seasons cut short by knee issues.
