The “non-vulnerable” still need proper treatment which they can only get


if the health care system can handle the load. The social distancing is intended to slow down the spread enough so the non-vulnerable can survive. A ventilator will allow the patient to fight off the disease.

I am not an expert and like others am basing this on what I have read. But the goal seems to be to spread it out and the number of cases may be the same but the survival rate will be better.
