Is there a reasonable chance that Soderlund will decide to return

for the 2021 season? I am wondering if he or maybe Pedroso have said anything about it and if so whether are any locals on this board have heard something. Some LAX players have already announced that they are not returning

I would think Carl had planned on trying the pro tour after graduation, but that option is not available as long as all tours remain shut down due to CV19 concerns..

Perhaps one factor is whether VAF can and will fund his scholarship if he wants to return. My pure guess is that he was probably on a full or nearly so scholarship this past year, so he is allowed to get the same scholarship under the NCAA rules without any part of that counting against the normal 4.5 men's tennis.scholarship limit. This exception only applies in the 2021 season.

Next year's team without Soderlund and likely without Alshon does not look very strong. It would appear that Goetz and Ross will play 1 and 2 with Woodall and Lord at 3 and 4. I would think Fresen and the 3 recruits will battle it out for 5 and 6. Having Carl back sure would be nice.

With the extra year of eligibility, there should be more players than normal wanting to transfer. I looked to see if there are any top senior IVY league players, who cannot remain at their school and play college tennis there, who might want to transfer. I did not see top senior players at Columbia or Harvard.
