My understanding is that everyone has another year as if the partial season
never happened at all. From a numbers perspective, the crunch is only happening with those that were Seniors this past season. All 1st-3rd years were expected to be back for 2020-21 anyway.
There's time to manage the number of offers to high school players that will enter in the Fall of 2021 and beyond versus bringing a non-Senior back for what will eventually and effectively be their 5th year down the road. Can weigh a "5th year" from, say, Amber O'Dell in about a year from now versus a high school player that would otherwise enter in the Fall of 2022.
But, for anyone that is a Senior, there's a problem if there isn't funding available for additional scholarships above and beyond the number normally allowed by the NCAA (as is the case with UVA). All 8 women's tennis scholarships are spoken for and there isn't room to bring any of Bleser, Favero and Gullickson back. But, it also means from an eligibility standpoint that we won't have any seniors next season since this past one effectively didn't count (our 3rd years from this past partial season will effectively be 3rd years again).
