Just a guess, but without large conference $$ or large FB

attendance, I just don't understand how non P5 colleges including virtually all FCS schools can afford to have very many non revenue sports including the funding of those scholarships. With large rosters in these two sports, cutting them saves a lot more $$ than say cutting golf and tennis.

From what I understand UVA/VAF are struggling financially to maintain its large number of sports and the related scholarships. Some here have advocated dropping the about $14 million in student fees which go to the Athletic department. IMO if that were to happen it would cause UVA to drop 5 to perhaps as many as 10 non revenue sports. It won't be baseball or LAX but all of the others would be put in jeopardy. If you also consider the loss of about the same amount if FB is not played or is played without any fans and ticket sales, things will go south dollar wise very rapidly at UVA.

I recently made my normal VAF donation and do not have FB or BB season tickets , but many others are apparently cutting back with some making no donation at all. This action will/could cause elimination of several sports and/or cause VAF to stop funding the maximum number of allowable scholarships, which we would mean we cannot win at recent levels. I urge those who care about UVA sports to continue donating to VAF.
