No we would just be that much closer to the University of Phoenix Online
That's the not UVA I want, at all.
Watching lecture videos and taking on-screen tests is not the approach to give students a true collegiate experience. I don't care how many degrees these online "universities" can pump out, only those students who sit in a classroom, or who work as part of a group project, or who interact face-to-face in some other routinized way, are having a true collegiate experience. Learning at the university level requires figuring out how to interact with peers/colleagues in the real world. That doesn't happen by ticking boxes on a screen. That happens face to face. Without the skills to develop and navigate working relationships with others, students will falter in the real world.
