Why are "colleges are spending inordinate amounts of time having to coddle


& counsel & indulge them."?

Why aren't colleges telling them to toughen up, get with the program, and stop being babies? It seems to me that THAT is what colleges ought to be doing, not coddling 18-year old infants. I'm glad that my professors at UVA didn't put up with my own immaturity at the time, and instead challenged me to get with the program. That made a world of difference for me.

Sheesh.
