Was probably related to Notre Dame coming in and getting a few kids that


fit their program and Purdue playing them annually. But not sure. I just remember my dad taking me to every Hampton football game back then since that's where he attended and talking to me about the players and colleges. Tidewater was well known back then as a place with good talent, maybe just not as abundant as places like Florida and Texas.
