A thousand times yes...

He was trying to take on a larger role than freshmen normally have to take on due to the departures in our backcourt. You could tell that his defense was further along, and I'm sure a lot had to do with his mentality and work and what was emphasized. I think (in retrospect) it's easy to see how his offense may have taken a back seat. Coach Bennett knew he needed to get all the guards he had on the floor, and you don't get on the floor without being sound defensively. I think now that he is accustomed to the game and has experience, he'll be able to develop into a more well-rounded player. I expect a big jump in his efficiency.

Remember, too, he's a bit more of a slasher. It'll help having Hauser and Woldetensae stretching the floor and opening up those lanes. Tomas wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire the first half of the year either. Some of those games looked like a rec league game where the teams have to play zone and keep a foot in the paint. There was no reason to guard anyone further out than that. Next year, I expect we'll have enough shooters where the driving lanes will be more available.
