Back in the day . . .


My first year at UVa (a long time ago!) we opened the season on September 21 and finished it the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Teams essentially alternated home-away games week-in/week-out. Basketball opened around December 1, so there was no overlaps (other than the bowl season) between the sports. In a lot a ways, it was a far better approach to the game.

And we didn't play Virginia Tech that year . . .
