I'm of the increasing opinion that the warm weather does, in fact

slow viral transmission. The lock down does not seem to have done much other than prevent NYC from being overwhelmed and teaching the rest of us the value of distancing, hand washing, wearing masks, etc. Georgia has definitely had decreased cases, despite increased testing and despite being one of the first to open things up. If we had a do over, I think we would have closed NYC and New Jersey down and implemented much less draconian measures in other places, which would not have caused such widespread damage to the economy. I don't blame anyone for taking the measures they did, though, because we were in uncharted waters. The fact that some states are holding on to strict measures in the face of mounting evidence that they are ineffective is somewhat irritating ("we are holier than thou") and the pundits that say opening things back up is meant to kill people makes my blood boil because it is so obviously politically motivated.
