New college baseball model / calendar proposal.

If you didn't see, D1 Baseball ran a story yesterday indicating that a five coach panel of Power 5 programs released a comprehensive proposal to revamp the college baseball calendar beginning with the 2022 season.

The highlights are to move the start of the season into mid March instead of mid February. The College World Series would then conclude in late July.

The sample calendar for the 2022 season was as follows.

Mar 18 - Season begins
June 22 - 26 - Conference tournaments
June 27 - Selection show
July 1 - 4 - Regionals
July 8 - 10 - Super Regionals
July 15 - CWS begins
July 23 - 25 - Championship series

The idea is that the one month delay in the beginning of the season would increase attendance, decrease travel costs for northern teams, and improve academic and health outcomes for players.

Here's the story from D1 Baseball...

Today, they published the actual proposal put forth by the coaches' panel. You can read it at the included link.

I'm typically not a big fan of change in sports. But I think I actually like this idea.

Anyone have strong opinions one way or the other?
