Modeling depends on data, and data depends in part on testing


so when your testing is woefully incomplete, it leads to greater variability in modeling, on top of the variability that comes with modeling human responses to what they perceive is around them.

Also, models are better at forecasting directing than degree (the slope).

That said, it's better to consider honest efforts to harness data than political efforts to spin, so the link Toolie provides is helpful, as is par for the course for him.
