Where would 1986-87 had ranked if Olden had not been booted?

Had Olden not been kicked out, our starting lineup:

C Olden Polynice Sr
F Drew Kennedy Sr
F Tom Sheehey Sr
G Richard Morgan So
G John Johnson Jr

That is a versatile, experienced and talented lineup, with three guys who could score in the paint, a great shooter from deep to stretch the floor, solid mid-range shooters, rebounding, toughness and an experienced point guard.

Bench was a bit thin but we could bring to the backcourt a solid defender in Darrick Simms, a real talent (who was nver utilized well by Holland) in Lance Blanks, a backup point in Anthony Solomon; Bill Batts was the only frontcourt guy on the bench with much talent but was in his 1st year.

Without Olden, we went 8-6 in the ACC, including a 1-point loss to #3 UNC and a 4-point loss to #12 Clemson, then lost in the conference tourney semi-finals in double OT to then #2 UNC -- I was court side in the Pep Band and watched in horror when we had the ball on an inbound under our basket and the lead with time running out, and we attempted a full court pass that sailed out of bounds, giving the Tar Heels the ball under our basket, which cost us the game.

Then we lost in the 1st round of the NCAAs to a Wyoming team that had 6-11, 265lb Eric Leckner, who killed us without a real center, and Fennis Dembo, a string team that beat 15th ranked UCLA in the next round before losing to UNLV, which then lost by 4 in the Final Four to eventual winner Indiana.

I think that team with Olden had a real shot at winning the ACC and getting to the Final Four.
