All college sports follow the 'you can play in 4 out of 5 consecutive yrs

rule', so red shirting is available but how to pay for the year you do not play is a major problem without full scholarships in baseball and in most other non revenue sports. UVA does not have to offer a RS year. Also almost all good college players leave after three years when they first become eligible for the MLB draft. I would bet that very few baseball players ever graduate from UVA (a few may return years later) and almost none do so within the 3 years they are generally here, which is a shame but it is true throughout college baseball.
