This is downright stupid. If UA can't cover the contract they have a duty


to consider exiting the contract prior to declaring bankruptcy. It all depends on what is in the contract.

Does it make them look bad, sure, but that is what the contract is for.

I don't think UA is looking for your sympathy. They are evaluating whether their contracts allow them to exit a deal given certain conditions. There is nothing shady about that. If UCLA and UCB disagree about the contract they can litigate, which of course will simply help push UA to bankruptcy and have to wonder what priority that contractual obligation would be. Probably unsecured creditor.
