If you have fourth grader, you can get a free national parks pass


your kids are right about that age. It's good for Sept 1st of their fourth grade year through August 31. Could save you some money if you don't already have one.

I used one a couple of years ago for a trip west. At the time, we had to have a hard copy of pass (printed from registration), but that may have changed.
