Looking out the window today, probably not good

I'm on a BOD for a non-profit in Richmond and like everyone else, our biggest annual fundraising events have been postponed/canceled. One of them is typically a dinner at the Jefferson Hotel with a few hundred people held in the spring. It had been postponed to late September and at our board meeting last week, we were informed that they are already making plans for it to be some type of virtual fundraising event instead of an in-person gathering. The unknowns are just too high around large gatherings at this point to make any upfront financial commitments around facility rental, food, etc. Tack onto that the potential liability of somebody getting sick and most organizations are likely going to scrap large gatherings for the rest of 2020. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see it happening given the current rise in cases across the country.
