Aspen has St Regis, Westin at Snowmass, and now a W

For SPG.

Aspen is a good place to avoid crowds (really) as it's small and isloated.

Plenty of places to eat w/ kids, too, early, esp.

Good biking down the rover to Woody Creek...bus w/ racks to go one way if needed.

Driving to Leadville = cool. Drive down the pass. You could "stay" on the other side, as well, say near Copper, then drive would like.

I'm an Aspen fan, and that said, have done summer vacay in Vail, also lots to do, albeit more of a Disney vs. a town (admit it...) but has lots of kids stuff, and some good food (Mountain Standard, over and over...ha)

You can def hike/bike w and w/o kids in AM; Snowmass I'd not use as the basecampo, I'd use town; let me know here if you need any other's a safe choice...
