to renegotiate if UA has to file for bankruptcy. They might save value that way,

That said, UA is trying to find a loophole. It looks like they are arguing a force majeure during a pandemic ... 4 years into a 15 year contract. Let's not forget UA was in financial trouble before the pandemic. The onus is not on UCLA and Cal to renegotiate. UA needs to find common ground with them. Instead, UA is the one backing away.

Regarding the couple where a significant other was flattened by the bus, what if the couple was already living above their means (UA was)? Now they are using a tragedy to back out of a contract without renegitaiting ... citing that due to the pandemic, they couldn't use the housing complex's pool.

Yes, it's shady.

I rather not protect badly run companies. With the same management, they'll most likely be into trouble again ... destroying even more value.
