Travel expenses the issue with field hockey for Stanford.

Everyone is hoarding cash until the world starts back up--travel gobbles it up. Unless Stanford wants to play 20 games against Cal and UC-Davis, the team must fly across the Mississippi for a game. I'm guessing Cal and Davis follow suit shortly.

Otherwise, I think collegiate field hockey should be OK elsewhere where away games can be driveable. Though it makes this southwestern field hockey dad a bit sad that this will blunt the westward spread of such a great sport. The sun doesn't rise and set on the Susquehanna River.
