The speculation is that if the ACC went to 16 teams, everyone would be ...

split into 4 pods of 4 teams. The schedule would be similar to the NFL, you would play everyone in your pod, everyone in your horizontal line and one other pod each year. After home and home, with the other pod, the pods switch partners. For example, Pod A plays B and C plays D. After 2 years they switch A vs. C, B vs. D, etc.

An example (rotate 90 degrees to get the lines):
Pod A - FSU, Wake, VPI, BC
Pod B - ND, UNC, UVa, Navy(?)
Pod C - Miami, Duke, Louisville, Syracuse
Pod D - Clemson, NCSU, Ga Tech, Pitt

We'd play ND, UNC, Navy(?), VPI, Louisville, and Ga Tech every year and then pick up 3 from another pod.
