It's recency effect....let it go!

People gonna get all GOAT without realizing the 8-9 deep (vs 3 good guys and role player era) even existed;
then they'll compare the modern day athlete to an era where everyone wore Chuck Taylors, and try to equate the two unsuccessfully;
then they'll just say X titles, and not really talk to anyone that was around "then" aka if you did, you'd know how dominant Russell/Wilt were.

I best sum up the "now isn't then" argument like this, and I didn't even LIKE the Celtics.

2020 Lebron/AD and .......ummm, Danny Green?

or 1985, Bird, Parrish, Ainge, Denis Johnson, Rick Carlisle (!) Kite, Walton (!) Wedman.
and 1984 Lakers Kareem, Magic, Worthy, Cooper, Byron Scott, Rambis, McAdoo(!) and Wilkes (!)
or 83 Sixers - Erving, Malone, Toney, Jones, Moses, Cheeks, Bobby Jones, Iavaroni (!) get the point. It was a full decade if not a decade and a half of that type of depth of legit stars and/or multiple Top 50/100 all timers.

Just let the "Lebron is great, so I have to have a simple argument he's the GOAT" people go. No real nuance, even if they might eventually be right, in their opinion....
