I probably do not understand all parts of your question, but ...

You say: "Uva could make X more if we only gave out 84 schollies."

I interpret your use of "make" to mean profit. I disagree. UVA could reduce expenses if football scholarships were cut from 85 to 84, but this could have a negative impact on the team's success, which is related to profit (and donor contributions).

As a reminder, I never addressed whether UVA should or should not expand the number of scholarships given for football next year to take full advantage of the NCAA's ruling, just that if more football players are on on the team and on scholarship, there is an associated additional expense for football.

I did not understand your initial question:
