The actual answer is that the AQ is the highest seed remaining ...


... after the last completed FULL round.

So if FSU had lost the first game, and then the ACC pulled the plug, the AQ would still be FSU if the other quarterfinals had not been played.

If we won our game, and all 4 quarters were played, then we would've been the AQ.

That is, assuming of course, they were to follow the rulebook, and not just let Swofford exercise his powers as an enlightened despot, which, as I've found out in this thread is just fine... ;-)
