Understood (about how Es are assigned). I found a video of the bottomtched
of the 9th & it gave me a very different perspective on what happened? Initially, I only saw the game-winning play (Phillips' hit). Watching the entire half-inning was really interesting, esp. Arozerena's at-bat.
Jensen's 1st pitch strike, which was waist-high over the middle of the plate or on the inside part of the plate, looked completely accidental & seemed to scare the Dodgers, as Smith was set up for pitch low and away. Arozerena's discipline on the 1-2 pitch was incredible. The announcer described Jansen's pitch as perfect; it was exactly where he wanted to throw it -- about 3-6" outside. And the first 3-2 pitch was interesting, too. Arozerena hit a little dribbler down the 3rd base line that he was probably going to beat out for a hit & Turner watched it -- let it?? -- roll foul. Turner might have attempted to field it in fair territory, except for the fact that Arozerena looks so fast. He was out of the batters' box in a hurry & Turner wasn't going to get him.
