I, too, am not big on the "sin" industries. The gaming/casino industry
also seems to be lacking in economic "linkages". There's a saying that a rising tide raises all boats, but it has been my observation that, outside of Las Vegas, casinos don't raise the tide. Big buildings, bright lights, but the surrounding economy still has the structural deficiencies it began with.
So, in Danville, the casino will be seen as a bonus for the local economy, but when Harrah's opens a casino in Greensboro ohhh... fifteen years from now, the Danville area falls back to (almost) where they were pre-Caesers.
