Baseball Letters of Intent - 2021 Class

Heading into National Signing Day, which began on November 11, the Hoos had twelve players on their commitment list at Perfect Game.

UVA hasn't released a baseball recruiting press release in years (maybe 5?), so I've been tracking who's signed and who hasn't yet.

Baseball players have between November 11, 2020 and August 1, 2021 to sign.

Benny Montgomery (OF, 6-4 200, Lewisberry, PA) - Confirmed signed

Shane Panzini (RHP, 6-3 220, Spring Lake, NJ) - Confirmed signed

Casey Saucke II (SS, 6-3 190, Rochester, NY) - Confirmed signed

Jay Woolfolk (RHP, 6-1, 200, Midlothian, VA) - despite his travel team tweeting that he signed, Jamie Oakes at 247 has confirmed that he did not sign with baseball. He's signing with football due to his scholarship counting against their numbers.

Tristan Shoemaker (SS, 6-0 180, Weyers Cave, VA) - Confirmed Signed

Matthew Buchanan (LHP, 6-1 195, Lebanon, VA) - Confirmed Signed

Dean Kampschror (LHP, 6-5, 220, Falls Church, VA) - Confirmed Signed

Ryan Minckler (RHP, 6-2, 180, Greenland, NH) - Have not confirmed signing

Griffin O'Ferrall (SS, 5-11 165, Richmond, VA) - Confirmed signing

Ben Petri (SS, 6-2 200, Lighthouse Point, FL) - Confirmed signing

Anthony Stephan (2B, 6-0 175, Ridgewood, NJ) - Have not confirmed signing. I do suspect that he probably signed because his dad liked UVA's tweet about signing day and his high school tweeted a graphic of him connected to UVA Baseball the day before signing day as part of their players anticipated to sign the next day. His dad liked that tweet too. Confidence level of having signed is 98%.

Colin Tuft (C, 6-2 195, Vienna, VA) - Confirmed signing

Early returns are that Montgomery is the Bitsko of the class but profiling to be drafted higher possibly. Always better that he signed than did not but no one should pencil him in to their roster projections any time soon.

Panzini and Saucke are top 30 recruits in the class. They'll need to be monitored. I think Panzini is getting some buzz.

I suspect we'll get Woolfolk but that will be a time share with football. They're paying for him so I'd give them the edge for now if he's ever forced to make a choice. But we'll see.

I'll keep looking for Minckler one way or the other. His high school, and especially its athletics program, aren't very active on social media. He doesn't seem to have Twitter and his Instagram account is private.
