I like him, but this will be his 5th chance to be drafted, and nobody has

taken the bait the previous 4 times. (He was eligible in 2015 out of HS, 2018 and 2019 as a jr and sr at UMBC, 2020 as a first year grad student at UVA, and will be eligible again in 2021!!!) He doesn't have velo and not many teams are willing to use a draft pick to get a sidearmer.

I tend to look at the world through orange-and-blue-tinted glasses, but I don't see him getting drafted, especially since I don't think the draft is going to go back to 40 rounds -- or anywhere close.

I do think he will have an excellent chance to be signed as a NDFA, either by a MLB organization, or an independent league team. He has the grit and the maturity to be an excellent professional pitcher, but profiles more as a situational guy if by some chance he can make it to the majors.

The others I think have a chance to be drafted this year:

Logan Michaels -- I think he's also a long shot, but he's an exceptional receiver, and will have 3 years under his belt as a Wahoo.
Christian Hlinka -- hasn't had a ton of chances to play, but he has raw power
Jimmy Sullivan -- ditto, and has a good arm to boot
Alex Tappen -- from what I've heard, he's recovered well from his injury last year, and if he hits as I think he's capable, he'll turn some heads
Brendan Rivoli -- I think he's perhaps the most likely to be drafted out of this "secondary" list -- can play multiple positions and has a good bat, and I think he'll hit as a pro
Devin Ortiz -- has potential both as a 1b/OF and as a P -- could be tantalizing to a team looking for high upside and mitigating risk with a two-way player
Cristian Sanchez -- still VERY raw, but I can see a team taking a chance on him in the later rounds -- he certainly has very good raw stuff, just doesn't have the command yet
Marc Lebreux -- We didn't really get a chance to see what he could do last year but I think he will impress people with a full season in D1. He's a wild card. If he struggles, I'd expect him to sit and Sullivan or Hlinka will take his place. We have an embarrassment of riches on this team and plenty of guys to man the OF, with Newell rock-solid in CF. Jake Gelof needs a place to play too, so he could wind up in LF or RF.
Billy Price, Blake Bales, and Kyle Whitten could also potentially be drafted.
Is Kosanovich back this year? He might also have an outside shot.

Out of this list, I think the only guy who might realistically get drafted in a 20-round draft is Rivoli. If it's shorter, nobody from this list, barring an explosive 2021, will make it. Ortiz, Michaels, and Price are probably the next tier.

This is all just stream-of-consciousness work avoidance, so make of it what you will. LOL.
