Wow. Didn't know about Sanchez. Might be a good move for him.

Change of scenery. Nice young man with a bright future -- just didn't have the control of a successful D1 pitcher (yet).

Agreed on the 20 rounds. I don't think it will be longer, and I think there will be substantial push-back from the MLBPA if they try to have a super-short draft again like they did last year.

It's going to take me YEARS to get over what they are doing to the draft; summer collegiate baseball; and the minor leagues. Part of what made the minors so enjoyable is how ramshackle the leagues are, and how they are cobbled together with 2-year contracts. I thought it was the perfect balance of predictability/control and independence. And there's going to be repercussions in summer collegiate ball if MLB is trying to push the Appalachian League, possibly a NY league or something to replace the NYPL, and the Pioneer League (or whatever it's going to be called - Expedition League?). You know they will put money into those and try to lure the players there, which will be great for those communities, but could hurt the Cape League, NECBL, and Northwoods League, which have really done an incredible amount of work over the years to assert themselves as the best summer collegiate leagues in the nation.
