Follow-up on yesterday's COVID numbercrunch....
Sunday's numbers really show an even stronger continuation of the slowdown trend. With 250,000 more tests run this Sunday than last Sunday, there are only 5600 more new cases; the positivity rate is down more than a full percentage point! (But a couple tenths higher than two Sundays ago.) Given the speed at which this latest wave picked up, and the relative recalcitrance that governments and people seem to have about new lockdown measures** (and a further caveat about chicken-counting) I'm pretty surprised at the speed of the apparent turnaround.
**I rail at Whitmer, and will continue to do so, but I must admit that even her latest measures are a lot milder than everyone's first attempts in March at slamming the door. And they're stricter than most in the country from what I can tell.
