Do most people believe UVA is 3rd best team in the ACC behind Duke and Syracuse? While Syracuse and Duke are certainly loaded with talent, I don't think either is necessarily more talented than UVA and in Duke's case it will require a chemistry from 4-5 grad transfers after a less than ideal fall. I am much more bullish on UVA's defense with the return of Saustad and Rock. I was impressed with the 3 first year poles from last year but Im guessing the starting 3 will be Kology, Saustad and Bower...with Matsui and Giulier able to play key minutes as well. While we lose some of the proven talent on offense with Krause and Dox leaving (and 2020 was not a great year for Dox) there is a lot of firepower on the roster if it can be managed properly. I fully expect Cormier to continue where he left off, Garno to take on a bigger role but this season will be fun to see what Bertrand, Shellenberger, and Dickson contribute not to mention Conner, Bienkowski, Quinn. It will also be interesting to see if any of the first years contribute meaningful minutes...my guess would be Wayer would be most likely but I really don't know that much about this class.
